Assignments for Wednesday, 11/17/2010

Morning, my kids!  Today, I am at an academic vocabulary committee training.  Hopefully, I will get to show off the freshmen’s cards on their blogs.  Remember that you will not do planner-stamp video or ten-second sound off today, since I am not there.  But, you will still go to the doghouse for warm-up if you did not complete last night’s homework assignment.  Remember to email me (npriester@sdcoe.net) if you need anything.  I’ll be in front of my laptop for most of the day.

Freshmen, you will complete the written portion of your academic vocabulary card. If Ms. Raquel chooses, you may do the oral part as a group.  Then, you will read, “Cranes,” in small groups.  Please follow the table organizer linked below to see your assignments.  If you do not read in your assigned group, you will not earn full credit for this assignment.  Remember to stay focused, so you will be able to complete the story before the end of the class period.  If you are unable to complete it, take the initiative to complete it tonight—you will need to have finished, it in order to complete tonight’s homework assignment examining the flashbacks in the story.

Sophomores, today’s class will be simple.  Like yesterday, you will complete a grammar interactive and fill out a form. Then, you will complete a theme graphic organizer using the same form template you used to analyze “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant.”  You may complete this assignment with a partner or independently.  Remember to embed it on your blog.  For tonight’s homework, you will begin to create a graphic organizer to prepare you to write an essay comparing the themes of “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” and “Catch the Moon.”  You may work with a partner or independently.
